Unhinged

Our Posters clearly show the desperate need for some limits on congressional terms. Polls included in Ballotpedia polling indexes, as of August 18, 2021, show Congress approval ratings in the low 20% range. So, why do they keep getting reelected? The reelection rate for congress in the November 3, 2020, election was 96% with thirty-eight states at 100%. Nothing new -since 1964 only twice –1970 and 2010 midterms– was the rate under 90% (it was 85%).

The main reasons are the huge advantages incumbents have in almost all races. Among them are: name recognition; 97% of corporate PAC money goes to the incumbents because the lobbyists and special interest groups are contributing to campaigns that vote their way; incumbents spend 30-70% of their time on the phone raising money for reelection and their party instead of doing the job; good candidates are discouraged by the odds against them, so they don’t run.

The cost of running for Congress is in the $millions and that fact must be factored in, as well. Term limits would greatly reduce the cost as open seats give the opponents a level field to compete on.

The longer an incumbent is in office the harder it is to beat them.  Today’s Poster is a bit different from most of the others in that Eric Swalwell is only in his fourth term representing California’s 15th congressional district which covers parts of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Prior to being elected to congress he served a term on the Dublin city council.

The only other Poster with such a short incumbency is Hank Johnson — You must see this to believe it:  http://tinyurl.com/bmpfanp Without our term limits amendment he’ll be there for life.  In many ways, Swalwell poses more of a danger to the Republic. See if you agree.

Rep. Swalwell’s only experience is in college and politics. His voting record in Congress is typical of tax-and-spend career politicians. You can click on the links to examine the individual votes in each of the rating agencies sites.

His voting score at 4% is rated “F” which puts him in the “Big Spender” category by the non-partisan National Taxpayers Union –he shows no spending restraint. A score significantly below average qualifies for a failing grade of “F.”

Citizens Against Government Waste  At 5% lifetime and 0 for 2020, Swalwell is considered “Hostile to Taxpayers.” CAGW works to eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government through research and public education activities.  Today, CAGW is nationally recognized as the source of information on government waste.

The Club for Growth Foundation’s annual Congressional Scorecard tracks how members of Congress vote on economic legislation. At the end of the year, the Club for Growth Foundation conducts a study of how members of Congress voted on key issues and ascribes a score. Those rating 90 or higher receive the Defender of Economic Freedom award. At 10% lifetime and 0% 2020 score, Swalwell gets no award –except maybe from his lobbyists.

Americans for Democratic Action is “the nation’s most experienced organization committed to liberal politics, liberal policies, and a liberal future.” ADA was founded by Eleanor Roosevelt, among others well left of center at the time. ADAs Annual Voting Records are the standard measure of political progressive/liberalism. Rep. Swalwell is one of their favorites with a score of 95 of 100. He tied Ocasio-Cortez!

Heritage Action is the political action arm of the nation’s premier think tank, The Heritage Foundation, whose “mission is to promote free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values and a strong national defense.”  It is the opposite of the ADA in virtually every respect. And, as you would expect, it gives Rep. Swalwell just 7% lifetime rating with 0% in the 2020-21 session.

So much for his left-wing voting record that has burdened our children with enormous debt. Now that is taxation without representation!  His behavior as a congressman is no better.

The U.S. Intelligence Community currently has in its possession a classified report that includes intricate and intimate details of the nature of the relationship between Rep. Eric Swalwell and a Chinese spy known as “Fang Fang,” Breitbart News has confirmed.  She helped with fund-raising, and she placed an intern in his office. Despite these revelations, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) made the determination to keep Swalwell on the Intelligence Committee.

Breitbart News source quoted, “For those who have seen the details of the Swalwell case, it was shocking that Pelosi and Schiff so willingly kept him on the intelligence committee…” President Biden refuses to declassify the report.

Swalwell spent tens of thousands of campaign dollars on alcohol delivery services, wild spending on high-end restaurants, $10,000 on limo services plus $20,000 to a hotel where his wife is the director of sales. He spent another $6,000 on other luxury hotels, as well as $7,000 at fancy steakhouses in D.C., New York City and other expensive locations.

Eric Swalwell is unhinged.  He’s suing former President Donald Trump and his allies over the Capitol riot. Swalwell claims that the unrest in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6 caused him to suffer from “severe emotional distress.”

One more “unhinged” example was mentioned in a BizpacReview.com article. Charlie Kirk invited Swalwell to debate him at his Turning Point USA headquarters in Phoenix. Kirk said the terms would be “open, honest, and fair.” And Turning Point offered to pay his travel expense. Swalwell — without evidence — rudely accused Kirk of being an insurrectionist and accused him of “lying about the vaccine” and trying “to kill his kids.”

We could go on with these examples of why Swalwell should not be in Congress. Like the concerns being raised about Swalwell’s meetings with a Qatari group that has been linked to Hamas. Or his tweet saying that the word “woman” is not mentioned in the constitution and “that is unacceptable. Women must be equally represented and protected.” Of course, “man” is not mentioned in the constitution, either.  He probably never read our constitutional republic’s basic document. Or his outrageous ideas about the Second Amendment when he tried to run for president in 2020. Yes, he did.

Folks, we need to term limit congress soon!  Our Founders wanted “rotation in office” but never thought it would come to this.
