Rep. Jamie Raskin: “Hostile to Taxpayers”

Jamin (Jamie) Ben Raskin (born December 13, 1962) is an American attorney, law professor, and politician serving since 2017 as the U.S. representative for Maryland’s 8th congressional district.  He was elected to a Maryland state senate seat in 2006, rising to the role of majority whip. For more than 25 years Raskin was a constitutional law professor at American University Washington College of Law. In 1989-1990, he served as general counsel for Jesse Jackson‘s National Rainbow Coalition.

Raskin wore headwear as he underwent chemo.

Raskin announced in late 2022 he’d been diagnosed with a form of lymphoma, which he described as a “serious but curable form of cancer,” and he began chemo-immunotherapy. In April 2023 his cancer was in remission.

Jamie Raskin rose to national prominence as he led two impeachments against former President Donald Trump and was a leading member of the House Jan. 6 Select Committee.  He promoted the Russian Collusion Hoax as long as he could. I decided to do the Poster when I watched him defend the Biden crimes on TV in the same dishonest manner that he promoted the Russian hoax.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, released a statement of which this is a partial quote:

“The Chairman’s release, obviously timed to distract from news of an imminent potential fourth criminal indictment of Donald Trump, features the same selective and distorted parsing of information we have come to expect in service of the Republicans’ fruitless investigation into President Biden, which has failed to turn up a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing.”  (Emphasis added.) See full release hereAugust 14, 2023 press releaseNot a shred?  Rep. Raskin is fully aware of the mountain of evidence involving million$ paid to the Biden family through numerous accounts.

By their votes Ye shall know them

The conservative Heritage Foundation rates Congress through its Heritage Action group and rates Raskin as a Zero. In other words, they show Raskin voting 100% of the time for unlimited federal spending, open borders, etc. See details at this link: Rep. Jamie Raskin – Scorecard 118: 0% | Heritage Action For America

The non-partisan National Taxpayers Union’s Score measures the strength of support for reducing wasteful government spending, opposing higher taxes, and often opposing burdensome regulations that can stifle U.S. economic growth. Raskin gets another failing grade of F from NTU.

Since 1989, the non-partisan Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) has examined roll call votes to help identify which members of Congress have defended taxpayer interests and which have backed away from their promises of fiscal responsibility. Raskin’s interests in office lie elsewhere as his lifetime score of only 3% gives him the title of “Hostile to Taxpayers.”

Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) is on the other side of the aisle and advocate a socialistic form of government. So ADA scores of our posters completes their characterizations as supportive of almost total government. ADA scores Raskin 95% by voting like this.

The links at each named site describe the actual bills they voted on.  It is not possible to know all of the serious implications of the laws until you study them. When you see that both the conservative and the non-partisans give low marks from their view and the leftists give high marks from their view, you know where the subject stands.

Naturally, Rep. Rankin is no fan of term limits. But he accidentally made a case for them in a recent interview on MSNBC where he was being asked if he would seek a Maryland Senate seat now that U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin has announced his retirement. “These Senate seats only open up every 25 or 30 years,” he said. “A lot of people are encouraging me to check it out.” 25 or 30 years! Of course, this is a result of incumbent power, where the seat is out of reach until a politician retires or dies or is indicted. Ultimately Rep. Raskin chose nearly automatic reelection to his House seat rather than take the risk of a competitive open seat election.

I’ve been working on the term limit politicians project for over 50 years. We’ve made a lot of progress but we still have a way to go. Incumbent professional politicians are getting rich and cannot be defeated. Term limits are the answer.

Our Posters here have spent a significant portion of their lives in government service (so called) and it sure looks like Jamie Raskin has found his permanent home as a career politician in Congress.
