Long Time CPUSA Ally
U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ), the current chairman of the Natural Resources Committee is in his 9th term in Congress. Before coming to Congress in 2003, he’d held public office for decades — on the Tucson school board and as a member and chairman of the Pima County Board of Supervisors. Another career politician with little to no experience in the free market. Not that he endorses free markets –he doesn’t! As a long-time associate of Communist Party USA and strong supporter of socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, his ideology is definitely Marxist
One recent item from that long list: Democratic Socialists of America is organizing a congressional campaign to stop U.S. support of the opposition to the Maduro regime in Venezuela and to get the U.S. and Canada to cease sanctions on Maduro. Raul Grijalva was an early signatory. He voted against cutting funding for ACORN; voted FOR anti-fracking legislation; he gave out Communist Teacher awards; and over 90 more actions in that vein.
Naturally, his voting record reflects his opposition to the American Republic’s constitutional principles. Yet he takes the oath of office to preserve and protect the U.S. Constitution.
The National Taxpayers Union gives Grijalva an F grade as a “Big Spender” and the Citizens Against Government Waste awards him a lowly score of 4 out of 100 as “Hostile to Taxpayers.”
The Club for Growth rates on votes that affect economic growth such as lower taxes, balanced budgets, expanding free trade, implementing term limits, expanding school choice and other factors affecting freedom and prosperity –nothing that socialism is noted for, I might add. The Club gives our Poster a lifetime 7 of a 100. There is not nor ever was a free and prosperous communist/socialist country.
Heritage Action is the policy advocacy affiliate of the conservative Heritage Foundation, a polar-opposite of a socialist organization. As expected, it rates Grijalva 9% of 100%.
How does someone with his record become chairman of a Congressional committee? The Democratic Party awards chairmanships based on years in Congress. Nothing to do with experience, competency in the subject or responsibility of the committee. This position will give Grijalva significant influence over key economic and environmental decisions.
In this position, he will be able to stall and otherwise influence legislation and create major uncertainty for potential infrastructure, natural resource, and energy investors. Allowing a man with Grijalva’s radical record to wield such influence could have disastrous implications for American jobs and economic growth. For instance, Grijalva is pushing to halt uranium mining on 1 million acres of public lands.
The Natural Resources Committee is supposed to consider legislation to ensure effective management of our natural resources with policies grounded in science that is free of financial conflicts of interests. Good luck with that.
For more detail simply click on the links provided. There is plenty of justification for term limits on Congress as Raul Grijalva is just one of the worst. +++++
